psychologist in Stuart, Florida

Dr. Carelli, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, earned her Psy.D. and M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Carelli primarily treats teenagers, adults, and families experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, complex trauma/dissociation, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, suicidality, self-harm, substance abuse, and bipolar disorder. She also treats children experiencing eating disorders. Dr. Carelli practices from a relational, psychodynamic model and often uses emotion-focused and person-centered interventions.  She also incorporates more concrete skills, including the Unified Treatment Protocol, DBT, mindfulness, and CBT. However, she knows that trust and the therapeutic relationship are the most important aspects of healing. When treating teenagers, Dr. Carelli focuses on helping them develop emotional awareness and emphasizes building self-esteem and emotion regulation.

For eating disorders, she uses a Health at Every Size (HAES) approach and communicates with your team: nutritionist, psychiatrist, and general practitioner.

Dr. Carelli completed her Pre-Doctoral Internship at The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. She was previously the coordinator for the Help Desk at the Sidran Institute for Traumatic Stress, where she directed survivors across the US to competent, trauma-informed care. Dr. Carelli was also trained at the Trauma Resolution Integration Program in Fort Lauderdale, treating survivors of complex childhood trauma and individuals with dissociation.

Some of Dr. Carelli’s other clinical interests include assessment, group therapy, family therapy, helping teens with body image concerns, and working with sexual and gender minorities.

A doctorate in Clinical Psychology includes 5 years of providing psychotherapy under the supervision of licensed psychologists. Dr. Carelli is a member of the American Psychological Association and Florida Psychological Association.
